Southeastern offers excellent access to public transit options, including nearby rapid transit stations and multiple bus lines, making travel straightforward and convenient. The neighborhood features seamless bicycle infrastructure, supporting easy and efficient rides throughout the area. Residents have quick access to a variety of schools, both public and private, within close proximity. Grocery stores, restaurants, and cafes are consistently found nearby, providing plentiful dining and shopping choices. Abundant green spaces, such as the Willie Henderson Sports Complex, offer inviting areas for relaxation and recreation. Housing in this neighborhood includes a mix of single detached homes, duplexes, townhouses, and small apartment buildings, with many homes constructed around the mid-1960s.

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Southeastern, despite its sometimes busy feel. Green spaces, including WILLIE HENDERSON SPORTS COMPLEX and Southcrest Community Park, are very well-spread out and there are approximately 10 of them nearby for residents to relax in, which results in them being easy to reach from numerous locations within this part of the city. Lastly, this neighborhood has many sections that are very serene and quiet; however other spots can be noisy, especially closer to the railway line, Escondido Freeway or Martin Luther King Jr Freeway.
